Limerick City, Co LimerickLimerick city began as a Viking colony on an island in the rver Shannon and it is now the fourth largest city in the country. A city of fine, wide regular streets, it has excellent shops and stores. In recent times it has benefitted very much from its proximity to shannon Airport and from its new found rôle as capital of the Mid-West Region. It is a city very much of a historical and litery focus and has a great sporting tradition.
